These 6x6 studies give me the opportunity to try new or different concepts without using up too much time or energy. This small space allows me the chance to spontaneously react to a design issue before I think about a full blown painting. There is an intimacy in these small paintings that I love. All of which is achieved with a dip, drop or dash of the brush, with just a hint of what could be. I find them fun and exciting to execute. If successful, it may lead to a larger painting.
